Developing the Fleet

In knowing that the layout is not prototypical as far as track and scenery go,I did want to try to stick to prototypical operations on the PRR in the York, Pa area as close as I could. The first step into protoypical operations is making sure your fleet of freight cars resemble what was being used for the time and area you are trying to re-create. Since many of the cars found on the Northern Central Branch were there to serve specific industrial needs, an overview of industries served had to be completed first. These are the approximate industries served by the PRR in the York, Pa. area for the 1948 time frame. They are shown in decending order. The 5 links that follow is the actual method used for developing the fleet.
